Terra Vita Vinum

Terra Vita Vinum, formerly known as Domaine Richou, is located in the Anjou Noir region of the Loire. In 2018, Luc Briand and Bénédicte Petit acquired this 30-hectare estate, continuing the winegrowing tradition established by the Richou family over three generations. In 2019, they renamed the estate Terra Vita Vinum and certified it biodynamic (Demeter) in 2020. Passionate about wine, Luc and Bénédicte have chosen to cultivate their vines biodynamically in order to highlight the unique terroir of Anjou noir. Their production focuses mainly on Chenin white wines. Their cultivation method excludes all chemical inputs, scrupulously respecting the lunar calendar and using natural composts and decoctions to protect the vines. The Terra Vita Vinum estate produces parcel-based cuvées, enhancing the diversity of its terroirs. The grapes are harvested by hand and meticulously sorted. The white wines are obtained by slow, gentle pressing, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Ageing takes place in barrels, concrete eggs and amphorae, for a period of two years for most cuvées. As for the red wines, they are made with maceration adjusted to preserve their freshness, often in whole bunches. Terra Vita Vinum aims to produce wines that are precise, energetic and respectful of the environment.The estate incorporates innovative practices, such as the use of dwarf cows to mow the vines and enrich the soil. This biodynamic approach, combined with diversified massal selections, creates wines of great aromatic complexity. Luc and Bénédicte strive to deliver wines that are ready to drink after long ageing and strict adherence to natural processes. Their cuvées are the pure, honest expression of their terroir, testifying to their commitment to sustainable, quality viticulture.
