Jaufré Mas

Trutruka is still just a rumor, a password between insiders, the name of an Auvergne wine project that we whisper among insiders... Those who have already harvested with Patrick Bouju all know Jaufré Mas, said "Jojo". Patrick's faithful traveling companion, Jojo was able to observe him working in the vineyards and in the cellar for many years. Trained with him in the secrets of organic farming and natural wine, it was quite natural that he decided in 2022 to go solo and work a few vines in Auvergne.
Three main plots give life to three wines at the moment: the first, the freshest and the “easiest” is made with Gamay on Jaufré limestone, it is the Trutruka vintage. A second vintage will soon come on granite and basalt which we hope to see arrive this fall. Then a final vintage will come from old Gamay vines (80 and 120 years old) on limestone, vinified and aged in Spanish amphorae.
Obviously at Jaufré Mas, inputs are prohibited, the grapes are harvested manually, and the wines ferment with native yeasts.
For the privileged few who were able to taste La Trutruka, they had the pleasure of discovering a drinkable, frank and sincere wine. This is only the beginning of the story for Jaufré Mas, but there is no doubt that with his background and experience in natural wine, he will continue to surprise and delight us.
