Clos de l'Epinay

Situated at the end of the first slope of Vouvray, Domaine Clos de l'Epinay enjoys a privileged location, next to the prestigious historic estates of the appellation. Nestling in the heart of the Loire, this estate boasts 300 years of history, established on clay-limestone soils rich in flint, offering ideal conditions for growing Chenin, the region's emblematic grape variety. Surrounded by small valleys that create unique microclimates, the estate benefits from a variety of exposures, contributing to the diversity and richness of its wines. The vines, located on the Vouvray ridgeline, benefit from different slope orientations, giving each plot a distinct identity, despite the common bond of the clay-limestone soil. The philosophy of Domaine Clos de l'Epinay is resolutely focused on respect for nature and the terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, producing fruit of exceptional quality. In the cellar, the work is minimalist, allowing the terroir and the vintage to express themselves fully in each cuvée. Vinification is carried out with the greatest care, favouring the use of natural yeasts prepared on site and carefully monitored. The wine is matured, or rather accompanied, in carefully chosen containers to encourage the most authentic expression of the wine, whether in oak barrels or concrete vats, while preserving the vitality of the final product. The estate, taken over in 2023 by Antoine Labrosse and Henri Bruneau, now embodies an ambition for excellence, with the aim of producing living wines that faithfully reflect the terroir and the vintage. Gradually, from 2024 onwards, wine lovers will have the pleasure of discovering the 2023 vintage, the first natural wine produced by the estate, demonstrating its commitment to winegrowing that respects the environment and the living world.
