Robert Denogent

A Family Story and a Natural Turn

The birth of this Mâconnais estate dates back to the early 20th century, when Andrée Robert née Denogeant owned 5 hectares on what would become the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation area in 1936. Her son Jean-Jacques Robert took over the estate in 1989, renaming it in honor of his ancestors and family.

A New Generation Committed to Change

2006 marked the arrival of the eldest son, Nicolas, while Antoine joined the estate in 2012 after gaining experience in other French and international vineyards. In 2015, the two brothers officially took over the full management of the estate.

Today, Domaine Denogent spans 13 hectares planted with Aligoté, Chardonnay, and Gamay (the latter in the Beaujolais area). Jean-Jacques, though retired, remains close to his sons.

A Philosophy Focused on Nature

The brothers decided to give the estate a natural turn. Their goal? To produce wines as naturally as possible, eliminating chemical inputs whenever they could. They focused on enhancing the biodiversity of their terroirs (about 30 parcels spread over more than 30 km between Beaujolais and Mâconnais).

This is a major asset for their vines, aged between 50 and 70 years, allowing them to minimize interventions. Only the soil under the vines is tilled. All green work and harvesting are done manually.

Long and Precise Aging

As for aging, it lasts a minimum of two winters for all their wines. Unlike their father, who worked exclusively with barrels, Antoine and Nicolas decided to diversify their aging containers: barrels, demi-muids, foudres, concrete vats, enameled tanks, and stainless steel vats.

They only release the wines when they consider them truly ready. They don't like being rushed—neither themselves nor their wines.

Wines for Sharing and Celebration

Today, the Denogent brothers offer fresh, taut, yet indulgent wines, perfect for enjoying with family or among friends. Because if there's one thing that's essential to the Denogent family—and anyone who has crossed their path will confirm—it’s sharing, laughter, and good times together.

And there’s no doubt: Antoine and Nicolas have crafted the perfect wines for that!
