Les Bottes Rouges
A former school teacher, Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz swapped the classrooms for the Jura hillsides, driven by a devouring passion for wine. After an apprenticeship with Stéphane Tissot in 2012, he went solo and founded Les Bottes Rouges , a name inspired by a song by the Wampas, a nod to his free and rock'n'roll spirit. Based in Abergement-le-Petit, the estate now covers nearly 10 hectares . He cultivates a dominant Savagnin and Chardonnay for the whites, as well as Pinot Noir , Poulsard and Trousseau for the reds, all using organic farming . Faithful to natural and low-intervention winemaking, he favors fermentations with indigenous yeasts, gentle extractions and minimal use of sulfites. Since 2016, Jean-Baptiste has shared the adventure with Florien Kleine Snuverink, his partner of Dutch origin, bringing a new lease of life to the estate. Together, they produce wines of great finesse, such as the Gibus (pure Trousseau), Boomerang (Poulsard-Trousseau blend), Léon (Chardonnay) and No Milk Today (Savagnin maceration) vintages. Vibrant and expressive wines , sincere reflections of the Jura terroir.
