Domaine de l’Astré

2017 rings for Aude Duval and Sylvain Ohayon, the time of their installation on the Domaine de l'Astré. As a lease, the couple will take over these plots of vines cultivated organically since 2012 which consist of 8 hectares in one piece, including 1.7 of Sémillon and the rest of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon. Here the vines have an average age of 35 years and are located in the commune of St Méard de Gurçon, in Périgord Pourpre, in Dordogne, on the border with Gironde (30 km west of Bergerac).
Before starting this crazy adventure, the couple met at the foot of the Andes, in the Argentine wine lands where each of them came to discover the wines of the new world. Aude was then a wine merchant in Libourne and Sylvain, operations manager in Médoc. They then decided to embark on the wine adventure together. They then decided to push and apply the principles of biodynamics in their vines and in the cellar and sought to work as naturally as possible by limiting manipulations on the harvest, for example. Their basic desire was to “create a wine so good that when drinking it we feel radiant with friendship and kindness” and we can say that it is a successful bet for this couple of particularly gifted winegrowers!
