Closerie St Roc

At the end of 2012, Pascal Amoreau, descendant of the 14th generation of winegrowers in his family (the story begins in 1610), decided to buy a property neighboring his current estate: the iconic Le Puy estate. 16 ha in the commune of Puisseguin, neighboring commune of Saint-Emilion, classified in Bordeaux and Côte de Bordeaux, but above all with a particular terroir, since it consists of little land, directly on the rock with a subsoil so sought after in the region, predominantly clay-limestone. Perfect vector of tension and minerality.
There is no debate about working the vines biodynamically, nor even the vinification of wines in a natural way. It is the logical continuation of the work already carried out, always, at Le Puy. In 2020, the estate even chose to collaborate with Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, famous specialists recognized worldwide in the microbiological life of soils, in order to refine their knowledge of their soils and subsoils.
The Closerie Saint Roc teams have also decided to work on agroforestry on their estate. In fact, a planting campaign took place making it possible to have trees of three different species throughout the year (blackcurrants, eleagnus and Bohemian olive trees) making it possible, alternatively, to attract predatory pests.
All the work carried out in the vineyard is a search for “different symbioses between places and micro-organisms” because they are the ones who create the true identity of the wines according to the Closerie team. And marked identity, elegance and balance, the vintages of Closerie Saint Roc are not lacking...
