Gilles Berlioz

Gilles Berlioz, self-taught son of a factory worker, began his winegrowing career in 1990 with just 0.8 hectares of vines in Chignin, Savoie. With the invaluable help of his partner Christine, he gradually expanded his estate to its current size of 4.5 hectares. A former landscape gardener, Gilles Berlioz has brought his sensitivity to nature and his passion for viticulture to his estate, which he converted to organic farming in 2005, before moving on to biodynamic practices (not certified). The estate's vines are ploughed with the help of a horse, without the use of chemical weedkillers, thus promoting environmentally-friendly viticulture. The principle of "one terroir, one grape variety, one cuvée" guides his production, highlighting the expression of each terroir. In particular, Gilles Berlioz cultivates local grape varieties such as Jacquère, Altesse and Roussanne, enabling him to produce authentic wines representative of the richness of Savoy terroirs. In 2016, the estate was renamed "Domaine Partagé", reflecting the community and associative spirit of the project. Exchange and solidarity are at the heart of this initiative, and Gilles and Christine benefit from interactions with their team and other winemakers to constantly improve their practices and enhance the terroirs. This collaborative approach reinforces the estate's commitment to sustainable, respectful viticulture. Gilles Berlioz embodies a winemaking approach that values nature, terroir and community. He produces quality wines. Every bottle produced by Domaine Partagé bears witness to Gilles and Christine's commitment to sustainable practices and high-quality viticulture, making their wines highly appreciated by Savoie wine lovers and connoisseurs alike.
