Domaine Obrière

At 36, Charles Mackay, Franco-Scottish, has a degree in economics and sustainable development, but he wants to return to the land. After 2 years spent in Bolivia developing a rural project in the Altiplano, he passed his Professional Viticulture Certificate in Pézenas, then became a part-time wine worker for an organic winegrower. At the same time, he rented 2 hectares of vines which he converted to organic farming and this is how Domaine Obrière was born in Béziers in Occitanie. He is then joined by his partner, Sara Lombardi (Franco-Italian, herself) and together they decide to go further in their convictions; they engage in the production of natural wines. Today they cultivate 7 hectares of vines full time as naturally as possible, where traditional Occitanie grape varieties such as Carignan, Syrah, Grenache, Servant mix, all in a more global project of agroforestry. Here the soils are, for example, never plowed, we work on grassing, the development of biodiversity and all the work is done by hand. 2019 seals their commitment as natural winegrowers since they join the recently founded Syndicat des Vins Nature. 2023 will see the planting of a conservatory of old white grape varieties from Languedoc, they will plant around ten. The couple offers us fresh and elegant wines, perfect to drink with friends!
