The Vines of Yavanna

Julie & Charles Escaillet met in 2015 while studying oenology and viticulture, both working for their mentor Patrick Corbineau, a winemaker in Chinon who was a source of inspiration for many Loire producers. Their appetite for natural wines hooked them at that moment! In 2019, they launched Les Vignes de Yavanna and took care of 3 hectares of vines in the communes of Tigné, Machelles and Faye d'Anjou.
The terroirs are composed of sandy and loamy soils and some clay, with most of the vines being over 50 years old, which means low yields and high concentration in the wines. Yavanna Vines wines are easily accessible, vibrant expressions of Grolleau and Cabernet Franc made with whole fermentations in neutral vessels. These are true artisanal natural wines made on a very small scale with only a few thousand bottles produced each vintage.
