Clos de l'Ours

The Brotons family changed their lives in 2012 when they decided to become winegrowers in Provence Verte, near the Gorges du Verdon, in Cotignac. They are one of the northernmost areas of the Côtes de Provence appellation, where they benefit from an exceptional microclimate. Here the thermal amplitudes are significant, especially in summer, with hot days and cool nights, which is very profitable for the vines and allows slow and regular maturity of the grapes. All the work here is carried out biodynamically and the family seeks to promote agroforestry, they also develop biodiversity in their farming practices by, among other things, resorting to plowing on horseback for example.
Their estate, a natural enclosure of 15 hectares surrounded by woods, at the crossroads between the Gorges du Verdon, the Mediterranean and the Côte d'Azur. It is home to the typical grape varieties of Provence: Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cinsault, Clairette, Rolle, Ugni… where the vines have an average age of 50 years (with some vines approaching 100 years).
Their clay-limestone terroir is perfectly suited to these Provençal grape varieties and allows the old vines to express their full potential. Here all the wines are vinified and aged in a natural way, either in enameled steel vats for the whites and rosés, in tuns, barrels and concrete eggs for the reds.
The Brotons family produces sincere wines which they will continue to refine in the coming years. A family affair to follow closely.
