Pierre Mang

We first learned of Pierre Mangau's existence in spring 2021 from Cécile and Philippe Valette. At the time, Pierre was employed at the domaine, and was in the process of moving to the commune of Uchizy, in the Mâconnais region. But let's take a step back in time. A Parisian by birth, in 2018 he decided to leave the capital to start at the Beaune wine school. During his BPREA, he apprenticed withJean-Yves Bizot in Vosne-Romanée. Here he learned the art of minimalism and laissez-faire.
As soon as he settled in the Mâconnais region, Pierre became close toAlexandre Jouveaux. He even offered him a plot of just under a hectare in Plottes. Encouraged by the Valettes and Alexandre Jouveaux, he took over the reins in 2019, and at the same time took over a number of parcels under lease. Today, he farms 2.5 hectares organically.
In the cellar, Pierre follows in the footsteps of his instructors: minimal intervention, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no added sulfur.
Pierre's cuvées are a reflection of his career: promising. His desire to express terroir and vintage in the most transparent way possible will encourage us to return to Uchizy and follow his progress.
