Brice Martin
Brice Martin, passionate about vines and wine since childhood, leads a double life between his job at Domaine Jean Marc Millot in Nuits Saint-Georges and the management of 0.40 ha of vines in the Burgundy hillsides and red Burgundy. Thanks to the equitable intervention of the SAFER in the distribution of vines available for sale, Brice made his dream of working in an environmentally-friendly way a reality, eliminating all synthetic products from his first vintage in 2014. His commitment to an “organic” approach extends to all of his 0.40 ha, and is reflected in practices such as late pruning of the vines in late February/March, using the guyot simple method. In 2020, Brice broadened his horizons by acquiring a small parcel in Savigny Les Beaune (0.06 ha), enabling him to produce one piece a year, or two at most. In the cellar, he favors a natural approach, continuing the work begun in the vines. His vinifications emphasize the use of whole bunches for Gamay and Pinot Noir, and since 2017, no trace of sulfur has been added during the ageing of his two cuvées. Despite his minimalist approach, Brice reserves the right to add a micro-dose of sulfur (approx. 15mg/L total SO2) at bottling. A wonderful discovery on our last Burgundy tour!
