Domaine Matassa
A flagship estate of natural Roussillon
Domaine Matassa, founded in 2003 by Tom Lubbe , his wife Nathalie Gauby and New Zealand winemaker Sam Harrop, is located in the commune of Calce, in the heart of Roussillon , France. Spread over 20 hectares of certified organic vineyards, the estate favors indigenous grape varieties such as Carignan , Mourvèdre , Grenache (mainly Lladoner Pelut), Grenache Gris , Macabeu and Muscats d'Alexandrie and Petits Grains.
A vibrant and complex Catalan terroir
The soils, composed of schist, marl, black slate and black marl, give the wines a distinctive minerality.
A strong commitment to living wines
Tom Lubbe, originally from South Africa and former cellar master at the renowned Domaine Gauby , emphasizes biodynamic practices and natural winemaking, without additives, with the exception of a small amount of sulfur during bottling.
