Robert Denogent

The birth of this Mâconnais estate dates from the beginning of the 20th century with Andrée Robert née Denogeant who then owned 5 hectares on what in 1936 would become the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation area. His son Jean-Jacques Robert took over the domain in 1989 and changed the name of the domain to the one we know today, in homage to his elders and his family. 2006 was marked by the arrival of the eldest son: Nicolas, while Antoine only arrived at the estate in 2012 after having gained experience in other French and foreign vineyards. It was in 2015 that the two brothers found themselves, officially, at the head of the entire estate. Domaine Denogent today has 13 hectares of Aligoté, Chardonnay and Gamay (in Beaujolais as far as it is concerned). Jean-Jacques, the father, although retired, never stays far from his sons. The brothers then decided to give the estate a natural twist. Their desire? That of making the most natural wines possible, forgetting all chemical inputs whenever possible. By working on the biodiversity of their terroirs (we are talking here about thirty plots spread over more than 30km between Beaujolais and Mâconnais). An asset that they consider to be major for their vines, aged between 50 and 70 years, and thus allows them to limit interventions in them. Only the soil under the vines is plowed. All green work as well as the harvest is done manually. As for the aging, it will be a minimum of 2 winters for all the estate's wines, and unlike what their father did who only worked with barrels, Antoine and Nicolas decide to vary the pleasures and play on the farms with barrels, demi-muids, tuns, concrete, enameled or even stainless steel vats. They only decide to release the wines when they consider that they are truly ready. They do not like to be rushed, neither themselves nor their wines. The Denogent brothers offer us today fresh, tense, although delicious wines, wines that we want to drink as much with family as with friends.
