Etienne Bodet

A lifelong wine enthusiast, Étienne Bodet has been immersed in the world of Saumur winegrowing since childhood. After obtaining his oenology diploma in Reims, he honed his skills by gaining experience with a number of renowned winemakers: in Burgundy with Sylvain Pataille, in the Loire with Domaine Guiberteau and Clos Rougeard, in Sancerre with SICAVAC, and even in Champagne with Champagne Pierre Gerbais. This wealth of experience has given him solid expertise in oenology, geology and viticulture. In parallel with his first personal vinifications, begun in 2016-2017, Étienne and his wife launched Maison Bodet-Herold in 2021, specializing in the production of Loire crémants from the chalky mamelons of the Saumurois region, with a focus on long ageing and organic farming. In 2020, he created his own domaine, producing the Clos Durandière cuvée. This 1.3-hectare vineyard, planted in 1983 on very hard Bathonian limestone soil, stands out for its bold vinifications and deep respect for the terroir. Its philosophy is based on an empirical approach, careful vinification and long ageing to reveal the full complexity of the wines.
