The Port de la Lune Cellars

Laurent Borde is an oenologist by training, he has been practicing viticulture for more than 20 years in the family estate in Côtes de Bourg, spending time in the scorching regions of the Napa Valley, and making wine for others until 2014 when he decided then to take a step forward: that of finally making wine for him! And the idea he will have is not the most common since he then decides to settle in the heart of the “Mondovino capital” as he calls it, that is to say, in the heart from Bordeaux.
He then wanted to create an urban wine cellar on a human scale and above all open to everyone. Thanks to a policy of rehabilitation of the city, he will be able to create his cellar in a more than special place since he will place his barrels in a former blockhouse from the Second World War in the heart of the port of Bordeaux, the Port de la Moon.
He then decides to choose himself the rows of vines for the grapes he will vinify. All the winegrowers with whom he chooses to work must be in organic farming or must be in conversion. This position as a merchant-winemaker allows him to create atypical wines with sometimes unique blends (his Soupir cuvée for example which is a blend of Gamay from Beaujolais with Grenache from Limoux and Merlot from Bordeaux!). He will also always make it a point of honor to harvest the grapes he has chosen and which he will also bring back dry to the bunker to start the vinification.
Laurent is one of our partner winegrowers with whom we quickly decided to go further: from 2021, we will begin the Bain de Soleil adventure together. Building on our relationships in Charente, we got our hands on a plot of Charentais Colombard. This typical grape variety, little represented in natural wine, will be vinified by Laurent, and for once as a single variety. A human adventure that continues vintage after vintage and allows us to highlight this grape variety typical of our region!
