Maxime Julliot, originally from Burgundy, arrived with his entire family in 2012 in Haut-Médoc to take charge of an estate in Listrac for their conversion to organic. He worked his way around for 8 years, where he discovered the Bordeaux grape varieties and the Médoc soils with terroirs typical of sandy-gravelly plateaus or gravel-on-clay plateaus. The desire comes very quickly to create your own little world and make your own natural wines. It was in 2020 that he decided to take the plunge with his family and create SKJ. They recovered some plots previously worked by Pascale Choime and Laurence Alias of Closeries des Moussis, which they also decided to work in biodynamic agriculture. From this moment, an adventure begins, a new life project, they are free to make their choices and introduce us to new profiles of natural Médoc wines: fresh and digestible. The winemaking takes place in a human-sized cellar where barrels, amphoras and concrete vats meet. The estate seeks to produce several clearly identifiable vintages, in several different styles: reds more on the fruit, Haut-Médoc digestible but structured and Cabernet de garde aged in 100% new wood barrels. An estate, a winemaker and a family to follow closely, they are rare in the industry to embark on the adventure of natural wine in the Médoc!
