Domaine Vincey

The village ofOger, despite its Grand Cru status alongside Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant in the renowned Côte des Blancs, remains in the shadow of its neighbours because of its long cooperative tradition. However, Quentin Vincey, representing the eighth generation of co-operators in his family, has set about restoring Oger to the renown it deserves. He and his partner Marine have taken over the reins of the family business, which extends over 7 hectares spread between the communes of Oger, Chouilly and Mesnil, with a high concentration of massal selection grape varieties.
In 2014, the couple decided to break away from the local cooperative, marking the start of an adventure aimed at restoring Oger's reputation. Conscious of their heritage, they adopted organic certification and quickly turned to biodynamic viticulture, aligning their ideal vision of vines and life. At Château de Renneville, 10 km from their farm, they created a veritable laboratory for living things, integrating animals, trees and plantations in harmony.
Biodynamic viticulture then became an essential part of their approach, with preparations made from plants harvested on the estate. The 2014 vintage marks the start of this adventure, symbolised by the cuvée 'La Première'. This cuvée, representing Oger's Chardonnay, comes from a blend of varied plots, reflecting the characteristics of the mid-slope, full terroir and lower slopes of Oger. The special "Grand Jardin" parcel is characterised by old massal selections with south-east exposure, rooted in a thin layer of vegetation which dissolvesthebrown clay and chalk gravel at depth.
The vinification of the 'La Première' cuvée combines barrel and stainless steel tank ageing, followed by five years'ageing on laths. The result is a wine of impressive straightforwardness and density. Marine and Quentin stand proudly at the top of the Champagne wine scene, symbolising a new generation of winemakers determined to reveal Oger's exceptional potential.
