Jean-Marie Berrux
For more than 15 years, Jean-Marie Berrux has cultivated and vinified his 1.5 ha of vines, located near Puligny. Originally from Savoie, Jean-Marie first worked in advertising before returning to the land. He trained in viticulture and oenology in Beaune, and decided from the start to make wines as naturally as possible. He works biodynamically early and the winemaking is done without inputs. Jean-Marie cultivates a small area, but he can therefore get to the end of things and work with precision.
The cellar buried under his house in Meursault allows him to take the time to age the wines correctly in oak barrels. They are then brought up to be bottled in the courtyard of the family home.
The small volumes produced, and the great attention he pays to the smallest details, give life to sublime wines, which improve from year to year. Le Petit Têtu thus becomes one of the references in the best in natural Burgundy wines. We have several times been amazed by the blind tasting of old vintages from Jean-Marie. We only have one piece of advice to give: keep them in the cellar, and share them with your friends, because you don't come across such pretty “simple” Burgundy Chardonnays every day...
