Mélanie Kröber

After having had several lives, financial market analyst in London then cheesemaker until 2017, this German by birth will carry out several experiments in the world of wine which intrigues her so much. She will then leave to visit the Australian, American and also Jura vineyards and finally end up settling in the Sud-Ouest of France, in Gaillac. It was a friend of hers who introduced her to this vineyard when they were together in Vermont. Initially she began her wine project called Melsolo by vinifying grapes purchased from neighboring wine growers then she ended up, in 2020, by renting a small plot in the town of Andillac, 15km north of Gaillac. Another plot will be added in 2022, also for rent, in the neighboring village of Vieux. She then found herself at the head of 2.5 ha of vines on clay-limestone soils where Jurançon Noir, Braucol, Mauzac, Petit Manseng, Ondenc and Sémillon grow. Vinification is currently being done in the cellar of the Causse Marine estate, a well-known estate in this appellation. This vintage marks another turning point for Mélanie, since it marks the end of her grape purchases, now she will only vinify her own berries. Concerned about working her grapes and producing natural wines, Mélanie harvests everything by hand, destemming then crushing her harvest. Its vintages are neither filtered nor fined and without any input.
