Domaine Prophète Yann

Yann Prophète is based in Landreville, in the heart of the Côte des Bar . Heir to a small family wine heritage, Yann took over the vines planted by his grandfather in 1973 and 1975, in particular Chardonnay and a little Pinot Noir. The estate has recently been managed organically, with a deep respect for the Champagne terroir. Yann's production is artisanal and unique: of the 40,000 kilos of dried grape products each year, only 2,000 kilos of the best bunches are reserved for his champagnes, while the rest is sold to the big houses. His cellar, dating from the 19th century, houses century-old manual machines, which he still uses to press and define his wines. Yann strives to offer champagnes resulting from prolonged aging on pupitres, in order to enhance the aromatic complexity and elegance of his vintages. He is just starting to market his 2010s, followed by the 2011s and 2012s. We were captivated by Yann's approach, between tradition and modernity. His champagnes, rare and precise, offer meticulous work and a vision deeply rooted in the singularity of his terroir. A real gem of the Côte des Bar.
