Domaine Touraize

Domaine de la Touraize, named after the locality, has been owned by the Morin family since 1704. Nestling at the entrance to Arbois, it is now in the hands ofAndré-Jean and Héléana Morin, representing the eighth generation of the family to run this historic estate in the region. The family's winegrowing history is inestimably rich, stretching back to at least the very beginning of the 17th century. In 1985, André-Jean joined the winegrowing adventure, working alongside his father on the estate. Until 2009, the grapes were delivered to the cooperative, but that was the year André-Jean decided to leave this structure. He then built a winery and a cellar. In 2016, his wife Héléna joined him to contribute to this wonderful adventure. The ammonite on the bottle labels is a reference to the many fossils found in the estate's soil. Domaine de la Touraize covers 9 hectares of vines grown using organic and biodynamic methods. A precious part of the vineyard includes vines that are over a hundred years old. The soils reflect the entire Jurassic heritage, with blue marl, clay-limestone marl, clay-limestone marl and gravel on marl. In the cellar, Domaine de la Touraize relies on natural fermentation, with the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts and no added inputs. The natural white wines rest on their lees for an ageing period ranging from 9 to 24 months, in tuns or in rooms, without new wood. Red wines are matured in tuns, vats or even amphorae, depending on the vintage. They are bottled without fining or filtration, following the rhythm of the lunar cycles. Domaine de la Touraize embodies the authenticity of the Jura terroir, while affirming its commitment to organic viticulture and natural winemaking. A winegrowing gem that reveals the richness of the Jura through every sip.
