Domaine Alezan

In 2013, Rémi and Patricia Bonneton rented their first winemaker from Marsanne to Tournon-sur-Rhône. They thus laid the foundations of Domaine Alezan, today emblematic of natural Ardèche wine. It was in the Northern Rhône valley that they decided to plant several hectares of vines on loess, granite and clay-granite terroirs. In 2017, they founded La Tangente, a trading company through which they buy grapes from friendly winegrowers in Gard, Beaujolais, Alsace and Lubéron.
We mainly encounter Marsanne, Roussanne and Syrah.
The vines are worked by hand, the treatments are done on backpacks, the soil is worked with a pickaxe or on horseback. There is no tractor on the estate. The couple never tires of experimenting in the vineyard and the winery to adapt to climate change. Latest example: vines in pergolas. But they do not refrain from seeking grape varieties from the South, which are more resilient to lack of water.

In the cellar, they are faithful to the precepts of natural wine. Rémi and Patricia Bonneton do not use any oenological inputs, and no SO2. Most of the wines are made by whole-harvest maceration, then aged in demi-muids, old tuns and Spanish tinajas.
