Joe Landron
Do we still need to introduce Jo Landron? A great winemaker of the Muscadet family for a long time, he is a more than recognized figure in the Pays Nantais appellation. Jo Landron is a pioneer of biodynamics in the area. He decided to take over the family estate that had existed since the Second World War and officially settled in 1979. It was very quickly, in 1987, that he wanted to make all the changes by taking the decision to completely eliminate synthetic pesticides. It was in 2002 that he obtained organic certification and it is an undeniable step that will mark the history of the domain. Certification is for him a way of accentuating and affirming the identity of the three major terroirs associated with localities: amphibolite terroir, sandstone-on-clay terroir on Les Houx and orthogneiss and quartz terroir on the Stronghold of Breil and Clos la Carizière. He always pays particular attention to the work in the vineyard. It is in particular thanks to the advice of Pierre Masson in 2005 that biodynamics will take on another dimension, that awareness will be strong and that the care given to the vines contributes to the balance of all future vintages.
Jo Landron owns 48 hectares with a large majority of Melon de Bourgogne, a typical Muscadet grape variety (around 95%). On the cellar side, all its vinifications are carried out plot by plot, which allows the expression of each terroir of the estate to stand out. All grapes are harvested by hand, pressed in whole clusters and fermented naturally in vats.
Today, Jo Landron has around ten vintages, some of which are unmissable like Amphibolite, a white wine with citrus fruits and salinity on the palate, a touch of iodine, a perfect vintage for aperitifs and seafood.
