Patrick Bouju

A precursor of natural wine in Auvergne, current leader of a militant movement for living and free wines, Patrick Bouju is a UFO in the wine world.
Born in Poitou-Charentes, he grew up near Châtellerault and began studying chemistry after his baccalaureate. It was at this time, while drinking so-called classic wines, that he discovered an intolerance to sulphites, which pushed him towards his first natural wines, during a visit to Rennes cellars. A new world then opens up to him, at which point we are in 1995. And it is also the time of military service. Army that he will go to Châlon sur Saône, in the heart of the vineyard, where he will succeed in getting paid for wine training in Beaune! Diploma in hand and military service completed, he then left to live in Auvergne (the birthplace of his ex-wife) and bought his first vines: the wine adventure began!
His first vintage, Patrick Bouju made it in 1997, the vintage was rather good but those who followed it would be difficult. Father of two children, Patrick was then forced to take another job on the side and began working as a computer scientist. Doing missions throughout France and/or in shifts, he always has time to work on his plots and do as much experimenting as possible with his natural wine vintages. Then finally comes the time of tranquility, 2008 marks his full involvement in his domain, having finally succeeded in imposing his mark, he will be able to work his wines and his vines without compromise, without any chemistry or inputs. Unfortunately, the climatic hazards did not spare him in certain vintages either, and he eventually decided to also set up a trading structure allowing him to perfectly illustrate his talents as an outstanding winemaker. Result Patrick Bouju offers us high-end natural wine vintages, unfortunately a little too rare, but always incredibly elegant.
