Mark Pinto
Marc Pinto and Louis Mathieu are based in Chagny, Burgundy. Marc is Louis' uncle, and bought these 0.2ha of Pinot Noir located in the commune of Aluze in 2011, when Louis was born. Together, they now co-manage the Les Nargillets micro-domain.
The story begins with Marc, who, in parallel with his work as a hygiene consultant for estates in Burgundy and elsewhere, decides to start his own winegrowing business. To do so, he restored the cellar where his great-great-grandparents made wine before the First World War. Marc soon began experimenting - under the radar and away from the limelight of well-known natural wine estates - with sulfur-free vinification. He experimented for many years, until he was joined by Louis in 2015.
Together, they produce around 900 bottles a year. The Pinot Noir grapes are destemmed and macerated. The free-run juice and press juice are aged separately, and may or may not be blended before bottling.
Domaine Les Nargillets wines are characterized by their freshness, balance and purity. They are a delight for those lucky enough to know the domaine.
