Fermenterre

Victor Cossy, a former architect and graphic designer with twenty years of experience, radically changed the course of his life by deciding to reorient himself towards viticulture and oenology. This decision was born from his meeting with B. Chéreau in 2016, who introduced him to the subtleties of vine cultivation and winemaking.
Three years of apprenticeship later, in 2019, Victor acquired a hectare of vines, cultivated organically since 2007, from his mentor B. Chéreau. It was at this time that Victor Cossy created his own estate, establishing his place as a young winemaker with no agricultural heritage, but a strong desire to produce quality wines. Currently, he cultivates 2.6 hectares of vines, and his goal is to gradually expand this area to a maximum of four hectares.
His approach is imbued with innovation and forgotten ancestral techniques. It is based on “common sense” and an attitude of supporting nature, without seeking to dominate it. Victor Cossy mainly aspires to enhance the land he cultivates, in order to create authentic and generous wines.
The estate is located in the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine region, to the west of the Loire Valley, about 20 minutes southeast of Nantes, towards Clisson. Its plots, from varied terroirs (2-mica schist, gneiss, gabbro), are worked to allow the rock to fully express itself, naturally revealing its minerality.
The grapes grown in these vines are mainly “Melon de Bourgogne”, the emblematic variety of the Nantes vineyard. Another part of the estate is dedicated to the “Gamay and Folle blanche” grape varieties.
