Bourgoin Cognac
A winegrower from the Charente region in the service of free Cognac
A family history and a committed vision
The Bourgoin family estate is located in the town of Saint Saturnin, where the countryside of Cognacais and Angoumois meet. Created in 1933 by his ancestors, also winegrowers, Frédéric Bourgoin manages the 90 hectares that this estate represents today. He has the desire to make sincere and authentic Cognac and to do so he gives himself the means.
Restoring Cognac to its former glory
A complete approach from terroir to bottle
Indeed, Frédéric Bourgoin has a global vision of what the work of a winemaker is, of the land, of the grapes and of Charentais know-how. He wants to dust off the image of Cognac à la papa and better introduce his vineyard and this spirit. To do this, he will rethink the complete cycle of his cognac: he will cultivate his grapes, vinify them, distill them and age them as he sees fit. He makes no concessions: he makes his Cognacs without blending, without filtration, without colorings or added sugars. The withdrawals are always carried out during new moons and by gravity, everything is bottled by hand at the estate.
Unpretentious, parcel-based cuvées
The vintages are isolated by vintage, by plots/terroirs and by barrels. All reductions are made from rainwater to optimize the aromatics during tasting. Only old vintages are not reduced.
A seawater Cognac, bold and salty
An experimental project that has become emblematic
In 2022, we carried out an ambitious and original project with Frédéric Bourgoin: a Cognac reduced to sea water. A flavor enhancer, the salt rounds out and lengthens the finish of this Cognac which has found its audience in Oléron and throughout France .
