Alcofribas Estate

Etienne, Alexandre, and Eric... these three companions share life and commitment to Domaine Alcofribas, where their common passion for wine and vines is reflected in each bottle of natural Chinon produced. Originally from Chinon and long-time friends, they created this estate in 2009, where they invested with determination to produce high-quality natural Chinons.
The vines are located on the sunny slopes of the commune of La Roche-Clermault, a terroir in the south of the Chinon region which offers an ideal environment for Cabernet Franc and Chenin. The clay-limestone soils on the surface and the presence of underlying tuffeau create ideal conditions for the cultivation of these grape varieties.
In their viticulture approach, the three friends embrace respect for nature and are committed to a gradual conversion towards biodynamics. Their cultivation approach is focused on organic, with a constant desire to reduce inputs as much as possible.
Their objective is clear: to create natural wines without adding any inputs, while minimizing the use of sulfur. They favor a style of winemaking focused on simplicity and accessibility. The wines from the Alcofribas estate are produced to be thirst-quenching wines, perfect for sharing a friendly moment with friends.
The name of the domain, Alcofribas, is in reality the anagram under which François Rabelais signed his first works. This reference to a famous writer underlines the literary and creative character of their wine business, while testifying to their desire to innovate and push the boundaries of tradition. At Alcofribas, each bottle is a new story to tell, a sensory journey to experience and share.
