Domaine Dandelion
Morgane Seuillot created Domaine Dandelion in Mavilly-Mandelot, in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, in 2016. At the time, she took over one hectare of family vines. With his partner Christian Knott, they planted vines around their house in Mavilly, and gradually expanded Domaine Dandelion. This Hautes Côtes de Beaune territory suits them perfectly: the harvest can be waited patiently, much later than in Côte de Beaune or Côte de Nuits. The grapes benefit from the freshness of these altitude plots, and this is reflected in the wines.
Guided by the experience of Christian - former cellar master at Chandon de Briailles - they work as naturally as possible in the vineyard and in the cellar: no sulfur in the vines, minimal doses of copper, plowing with horses & natural treatments. The grapes are picked at full maturity, pressed on an old vertical press, then aged in barrels of several wines. Vinification is done without input, bottling without pump.
We met Morgane and Christian at their home in winter 2020, and we were immediately touched by their work. The wines are of great delicacy, characterized by great precision and very beautiful balances. Morgane pays great attention to all the details: from the work in the vineyards to the labels made hand in hand with a 15th century Auvergne mill.
The Domaine has made a name for itself among lovers of natural wine. Restricted production, vintages marked by frost (2019, 2021) and the desire to control yields make it a highly sought-after area.
