Champagne Augustin

Marc Augustin is based in Avenay-Val-d'Or with his wife Emmanuelle. Champagne Augustin continues the work of 2 families of winegrowers who have 4 generations on the paternal side and 5 on the maternal side. Andrée Lefèvre, Marc's great-grandmother, started out at the beginning of 1900 by freeing herself from trading. Jean Augustin, father of Marc, has never used herbicides or other pollutants in his plots. From the 1970s-1980s, he refused chemistry which then seemed a new solution full of great promise...
With Emmanuelle, they create a universe of their own, inspired by biodynamics. The wines of Maison Augustin reflect their conviction “The World is a whole and each action leads to a reaction. Let’s choose positive actions that promote harmony.” They practice committed viticulture, it is based on the practice of biodynamics and a culture of testing.
In their cellar we discover the good, the excellent and the unusual. Cuvées based on the elements of nature and whose plots reflect these elements. No chaptalization, yeasting, refrigeration or inoculation. Sulfur is used in a balanced manner. He experiments on farms with enameled vats, wooden jars and barrels from the Montagne de Reims.
Marc and Emmanuel claim to be “heart growers”: they want to cultivate and mature their champagnes with their hearts.
