The Domaine de la Touraize, whose name is inspired by the place, has been the property of the Morin family since 1704. Nestled at the entrance to Arbois, it is today in the hands of André-Jean and Héléana Morin, representing the eighth generation of family winegrowers to run this historic estate in the region. The family's winemaking history is of inestimable richness, extending its roots back at least to the very beginning of the 17th century. In 1985, André-Jean joined the wine adventure, working alongside his father on the farm. Until 2009, the grapes were delivered to the cooperative, but it was that year that André-Jean made the decision to leave this structure. He then had a vat room and a cellar built. In 2016, his wife Héléna joined him to contribute to this great adventure. The ammonite which adorns the bottle labels refers to the numerous fossils found in the estate's soils. The Domaine de la Touraize extends over 9 hectares of vines cultivated organically and biodynamically. A valuable part of the vineyard includes century-old vines. The soils reflect the entire Jurassic heritage, with blue marls, clay-limestone marls, clay-silt marls, and gravels on marls. In the cellar, Domaine de la Touraize relies on natural fermentations, with the exclusive use of native yeasts, without adding any inputs. Natural white wines rest on their lees for an aging period of 9 to 24 months, in tuns or barrels, without new wood. Red wines are aged in tuns, vats, or even amphorae, depending on the vintage. They are bottled without fining or filtration, following the rhythm of the lunar cycles. Domaine de la Touraize embodies the authenticity of the Jura terroir, while affirming its commitment to organic viticulture and natural winemaking. A wine pearl that reveals the richness of the Jura through each sip.

Superbe boutique qui propose de très beaux vins naturels qui sortent des sentiers battus. Un bémol, les flacons sont globalement très chers: il serait sympathique d'enrichir la gamme de vins abordables / plaisir.

Several specifications correspond to these denominations. Here's an overview of the different organic, biodynamic and natural specifications:Organic specifications (AB label) prohibit all use of synthetic chemicals in the vineyard and cellar. It does, however, allow for a few oenological crutches during vinification. Sulfites, for example, are tolerated up to 100 mg/L for red wines and 150 mg/L for whites. In biodynamic viticulture (Demeter or Biodyvin label), the winemaker not only works without synthetic chemicals, but also takes into account the lunar calendar for all the operations he carries out. He also uses biodynamic preparations (fermented horn dung, silica, plant teas, etc.) to strengthen the vines. Overall, the winegrower seeks to integrate vine cultivation into a global environment. Sulphites can be as low as 70 mg/L for reds and 90 mg/L for whites. In Vin Méthode Nature, the specifications specify the use of organic grapes, fermented naturally with indigenous yeasts (as in biodynamic viticulture). Natural wines receive no inputs during vinification or ageing. Only minimal doses of SO2 are permitted (30 mg/L maximum), and must be specified by the winemaker. No brutal filtration or alteration techniques are permitted. We also find the Vins SAINS designation, which aims to ban the use of sulfites altogether.

Our aim is to offer you wines made by artisans, from small-scale estates, often family-run. That's why we take the time to travel the length and breadth of France, from vineyard to vineyard, in search of the natural wines that make us tick. We're particularly keen to help you discover the new winemakers of tomorrow, who are working tirelessly to bring us magnificent wines. We want to showcase them, give them greater, clearer visibility, and accompany them all the way to you!
